1. Service Scope & Execution Models

PDFLean provides a comprehensive suite of PDF conversion, page organization, compression, and electronic signature utilities globally. Operations function across two distinct operational models:

• Local Processing: Executed client-side via WebAssembly (WASM). Processing takes place entirely within your device's memory without network file uploads. No signup required.
• Cloud Acceleration: Optional encrypted cloud for OCR, large files, and batch jobs. Per-file and batch caps follow the pricing matrix and plan quotas; temporary cloud task files are deleted right after processing completes, and result files you save to cloud storage are kept for your plan's retention window (7 days on Free & Week Pass, 30 days on Pro & AI Pro); only compliance archives you explicitly create with a retention period (legal hold / WORM lock) are kept for that period.

2. Output Accuracy & Disclaimers

PDFLean utilities are designed to preserve layout where possible. However, outputs (including optical character recognition, format conversions, and page extractions) are provided for general productivity and do not substitute for certified legal, regulatory, medical, or audit review. Degraded, scanned, or password-restricted source documents may result in partial conversion variances.

3. Accounts, Subscriptions & Refunds

Pro subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly or annual schedule via Stripe. You may cancel at any moment through your account management portal; benefits persist uninterrupted until the conclusion of your prepaid period. First-time subscribers are entitled to a full, no-questions-asked refund within 14 days of the first charge; subscription renewals are fully refundable within 72 hours of charge; unused one-time credit packs are refundable within 7 days of purchase. Where tax collection is enabled, applicable VAT/GST is calculated at checkout and a compliant tax invoice or receipt is provided; corporate VAT/Tax ID collection is available on supported plans.

Consumers in the European Union or the United Kingdom additionally have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts. Because supply of the digital content begins immediately upon purchase, completing checkout constitutes your express request for immediate performance and your acknowledgement that this withdrawal right is lost once supply is complete (Directive 2011/83/EU, Art. 16(m); UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). 4. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree to utilize PDFLean in compliance with all applicable local, federal, and international laws. Prohibited activities include transmitting malicious binaries, processing defamatory content concerning others without consent, initiating denial-of-service (DDoS) attempts, or evading concurrency quotas. Accounts found in violation may be throttled or terminated immediately.

5. Intellectual Property & Third-Party Trademark Disclaimer

You retain sole and exclusive title, copyright, and intellectual property ownership over all documents and files processed through PDFLean. We will never sell, inspect, or license your files. PDFLean does not use your files to train its models, and we instruct AI providers contractually not to use submitted content for model training. PDFLean and its licensors retain title to all software, interface designs, logos, and service trademarks.

Third-Party Trademarks: Microsoft, Word, Excel, PowerPoint are trademarks or registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation. Google, Google Drive are trademarks of Google LLC. Apple, macOS, iOS are trademarks of Apple Inc. All other product names, logos, brands, and registered trademarks mentioned on this website are the property of their respective owners. Reference to any specific commercial products, processes, or file formats by trade name, trademark, manufacturer, or otherwise is for identification and compatibility purposes only and does not constitute or imply endorsement, sponsorship, or recommendation by PDFLean or the respective trademark owners.

6. Limitation of Liability & Warranty

The service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permissible under applicable statute, PDFLean's aggregate financial liability for any claim arising from system downtime or data interruption is strictly capped at the fees paid by you to PDFLean in the preceding twelve months.

7. Operator, Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

Any dispute shall first be addressed through good-faith informal negotiation, and if unresolved, may be brought before the courts of competent jurisdiction. Nothing in these terms limits rights you may have under mandatory consumer-protection law, including your right to approach your national consumer ADR body (see Imprint).
