PDF PII Detection

Hybrid Processing

Automatically detect emails, national IDs, phone numbers, bank cards, SSNs, and IPs in a PDF, and export a masked audit report. Detection runs locally by default; optional server-side NER sends extracted text to our encrypted cloud (auto-deleted within 24 hours).

Mixed processing: local by default; some steps use encrypted cloud with results kept by plan · ≤ 50 MB per fileLocal tools: free & unlimited, no account needed · Cloud tools require a free account (3 tasks per day)

What is it?PDF PII Detection is a PDFLean security & privacy tool: Automatically detect emails, national IDs, phone numbers, bank cards, SSNs, and IPs in a PDF, and export a masked audit report.

TL;DR: Automatically detect emails, national IDs, phone numbers, bank cards, SSNs, and IPs in a PDF, and export a masked audit report. Local steps never leave your browser; server-side NER is encrypted, deleted within 24 hours, and never used for AI training; only text layers are scanned (scanned files require OCR first).

About this tool

Automatically detect sensitive entities including emails, national IDs, phone numbers, bank cards, SSNs, and IP addresses in PDF files, with exportable masked audit reports in JSON. Rule-based detection runs locally in your browser by default, with support for batch scanning multiple files; optional server-side NER transmits extracted text over an encrypted channel and auto-deletes it within 24 hours (original files are never uploaded and never used for AI training). Free under a fair-use quota; on-page limits apply.

How to use

1

Upload a PDF with a text layer and pick the entity types

2

Click Scan

3

Review the report or export the audit JSON

FAQ

Is my file safe?

Local steps never leave your browser; anything server-side is encrypted, deleted within 24 hours, and never used for AI training.

Are there any limits?

Detection relies on rule-based patterns and checksums (optional server-side NER); only text layers are scanned, so scanned PDFs require OCR first; supports JSON audit report export.

Is the protection strong enough?

Detection runs locally in your browser by default, and files are never uploaded. Only when optional server-side NER is enabled is extracted text sent over an encrypted channel and deleted within 24 hours (never used for AI training); the original PDF never leaves your device.

Can I process multiple files in bulk?

Yes. This tool natively supports selecting multiple PDF files at once for batch PII detection and exporting an aggregated audit JSON report. If you need to chain detection with other operations (such as watermarking or conversion), you can also use the Batch Processing workflow.

Is the processed file still editable?

This tool only detects sensitive entities and exports an audit report (or JSON) without modifying your original PDF. Your original file remains untouched and fully editable.
