FAQ
How are XML / billing data attachments from e-invoices or official documents stored inside a PDF?
The PDF specification provides a dedicated EmbeddedFiles name tree. Invoice systems and official reports often store raw XML data or digital certificates inside, and this tool extracts them directly.
What is the benefit of removing attachments from a PDF?
Some documents embed large images, media, or data packages that inflate the overall PDF file size. Removing unused attachments reduces document size, with the reduction depending directly on the size of the removed attachments.
Can I embed and add new file attachments into an existing PDF?
Yes. You can embed arbitrary file types (such as spreadsheets, drawings, contract addenda, or audio files) into the target PDF to distribute them together.
Will extracting invoice or contract attachments alter or corrupt them?
No. Attachments are extracted via direct binary stream read/write, preserving original data and extensions byte-for-byte; file checksums (hashes) match the originals exactly.
Does attachment extraction and embedding happen locally?
Yes. Parsing the EmbeddedFiles tree runs in browser memory via pdf-lib. Files are never uploaded and are cleared upon closing the page; the tool works offline.
