About this tool
Permanently redact sensitive PII including ID numbers, phone numbers, credit cards, emails, and custom keywords directly in your browser. Matched text is deleted from the content stream at the byte level and covered with opaque blackout marks, while remaining text stays vector and searchable. Processing runs locally in browser memory without file uploads, and your document is cleared immediately upon closing the tab. Free with no account required; redaction is irreversible; on-page limits apply. An audit report (JSON) can be exported upon completion.

FAQ
Can redacted text still be copied or selected?
No. The system physically strips matched text glyphs from the content stream at the byte level and overlays opaque solid blackout rectangles in their place, completely blocking both search/copy and visual reading.
Which PII types are supported for auto-detection?
We natively support 18-digit Chinese resident ID cards, 11-digit mobile phone numbers, 16–19 digit bank cards (Luhn verified, covering UnionPay/Visa/MasterCard, etc.), email addresses, US SSNs, and user-specified custom sensitive keywords.
How does true PII redaction differ from drawing a black box over text?
Drawing a cosmetic black box leaves the underlying text extractable. True redaction physically strips the text tokens from the content stream and overlays an opaque black mark, making recovery impossible.
Can I redact custom names, company codes, or project keywords in bulk?
Fully supported. Alongside built-in rules for IDs, phone numbers, and emails, you can input custom keywords or names for one-click bulk redaction.
How should scanned image PDFs be redacted?
This tool only detects and redacts text layers. For scanned PDFs or pure images, run our Local OCR tool first to build a searchable text layer before performing PII detection and redaction.
