What is it?Edit PDF Form Fields is a PDFLean smart document tool: edit form field properties (required, multiline, dropdown options, rename), add or delete fields, toggle read-only, flatten forms, and inspect or strip XFA data locally in your browser.

TL;DR: Edit form field properties (required, multiline, dropdown options, rename) and add text/dropdown/checkbox fields, plus delete fields, toggle read-only, flatten forms, and inspect or strip XFA data. Everything runs locally in your browser — your file is never uploaded; added fields are placed by page and coordinates (no visual drag-and-drop); XFA only supports inspecting information and removal.

About this tool

A focused utility built for a single recurring document task. Edit field properties (required, multiline, dropdown options, rename), add text/dropdown/checkbox fields, delete fields, toggle read-only, flatten forms, and inspect or strip XFA data — all locally in your browser. Processing runs locally in your browser's memory — the document is never transmitted, and closing the tab clears it completely. The workflow is deliberately short: load the file, choose the options on the page, run the operation, and save the result. Every choice is applied before the file is written, so re-running with different settings takes seconds. Practical limits apply (see the on-page limits); it pairs well with the related tools linked beside this page when one step is not the whole job. Key facts — Processing: runs entirely in your browser, client-side; Access: free with no account required; File limits: see the on-page limits; Privacy: the file never leaves the device.

How to use

1

Upload a PDF with a form and read its fields

2

Check a single field to edit its properties: required / multiline / dropdown options / rename

3

Or add a text / dropdown / checkbox field by page and coordinates under Add field

4

Also delete fields / toggle read-only / flatten, or inspect XFA info and strip / preserve it

FAQ

Will my file be uploaded?

No. Everything runs locally in your browser — your file is never uploaded, and closing the page clears it immediately.

Which field properties can I edit?

The required flag, the multiline flag for text fields, dropdown options (add/remove/edit), and field renaming (with uniqueness validation). You can also add text, dropdown, and checkbox fields by page and coordinates.

Are there any limits?

Added fields are placed by page number and numeric coordinates, without visual drag-and-drop; XFA forms only support inspecting information and removal, without visual field editing.

How are field edit operations applied?

Edits are applied directly to AcroForm field dictionaries (/Ff flag bits, /Opt option arrays, /T names, and new field widgets); edited fields remain fillable and exportable. XFA forms only support inspecting structure and removal.

Can I process multiple files in bulk?

A single tool page handles one task at a time; for bulk work use the Batch Processing workflow and add this tool as a step to run a whole set at once.

Is the processed file still editable?

The output is a new PDF file and your original file remains unchanged; deleted fields cannot be restored from the output file, so please keep a backup of the original.
